Meck promises fireworks ahead of packed festival line-up

Afro-jazz sensation Josh Meck is heading into a whirlwind fortnight of performances that will showcase his musical growth and reaffirm his place as one of Zimbabwe’s most gifted live performers. With festivals lined up in Harare and Bulawayo, as well as international collaborations, Meck says fans should brace for “absolute fireworks” on stage.

This weekend, all eyes will be on the STEMA Festival, set for 6 and 7 September at Margolis Resort. Meck joins a powerful line-up featuring headline act Saint Flow, Freeman, Gemma Griffiths and Master H.

The festival is billed as one of the biggest on the calendar, and Meck’s fans will be expecting to be serenaded with favourites such as Changu Chipo, Chigeven’a, Mbuya Madhuve and Monera Taura.

The energy won’t stop there. On 12 September, Meck will headline the Bulawayo edition of the Zimbabwe Jazz Festival before jetting back to Harare for the capital’s showcase on 13 September.

The festival will bring together artists from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia and the United States, offering Meck yet another opportunity to share the stage with a diverse set of talents.

“I have enhanced my stage performance and I am promising fireworks,” Meck told Harare Post reporters, adding that fans should prepare themselves for an unforgettable experience.

The Zimbabwe Jazz Festival is particularly special for Meck, who will serve as the headline act. Known for his ability to fuse jazz with Afro-centric rhythms, Meck has consistently pushed creative boundaries in his career.

His performances are expected to strike a delicate balance between technical mastery and soulful delivery, qualities that have made him a favourite across local and international audiences.

The intimate gig is expected to draw close friends, industry colleagues and loyal fans who have supported the award-winning musician through his six-album journey.

Over the years, Meck has built an impressive portfolio, collaborating with celebrated musicians from South Africa, the Netherlands, the United States and Madagascar.

His cross-cultural engagements have broadened his sound, giving him the versatility to seamlessly fit into jazz, Afro-jazz, or world music platforms.

As September unfolds, Meck’s packed schedule reflects both his growing demand and his enduring commitment to live music. One thing is certain: Josh Meck is set to deliver performances that will linger long after the final note fades.
