Government reviewed progress on priority projects under the Second 100-Day Cycle of 2025, with significant milestones recorded across social protection, governance, youth empowerment, infrastructure and housing development.

This was announced by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere, during a post-Cabinet media briefing in Harare, on Tuesday.

Dr Muswere said the projects are anchored on the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), which continues to drive the country’s socio-economic transformation agenda.

Under the Social Protection and Economic Growth pillar, Minister Muswere reported the commencement of operations at the Hauna Fruits and Vegetable Processing Plant in Mutasa District, Manicaland Province.

The plant is expected to boost value addition and create market opportunities for farmers in the region.

In the same district, 24 beneficiaries from the Cynara Dairy Cooperative received dairy livestock, while 31 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country accessed funding support.

“Cabinet was informed that retooling of food processing and metal fabrication plants is ongoing in all provinces, while 138 MSMEs have been facilitated to access local and regional markets. Construction of the Chikomba MSME Hub in Mashonaland East Province has also commenced,” said Dr Muswere.

Under the Governance pillar, Minister Muswere announced the decentralisation of passport services to the Zimbabwean Embassy in London.

He said  progress has also been made on the establishment of an Online Border Management System and deployment of a Smart Traffic Management System in Harare, initially covering 20 sites.

According to the Minister, 50 police stations have been equipped with modern communication gadgets, while an electronic Case Management System has been implemented at Warren Park Police Station in Harare.

Progress has also been registered under the Youth, Sport and Culture pillar, where three heritage projects were launched: the Nechombo Community Archive in Mashonaland East, the Sikombela Monument Museum in Gokwe South, and the Altena Farm Monument in Centenary, Mashonaland Central.

Infrastructure development also featured prominently, with the construction of a clinic in the Chimusasa area of Nyanga, Manicaland, and a classroom block at Kundayi High School in Concession, Mazowe District. Additionally, an administration block for the Zimbabwe Republic Police is being constructed at Nembudziya Growth Point.

On youth empowerment, Dr Muswere noted the successful hosting of the 33rd Session of the Junior Parliament on June 20, 2025.

Construction works are underway at vocational training centres, with a girls’ hostel being built at Nyamuroro in Gokwe South, 60 percent completion recorded at Sivomo Training Centre, and 30 percent progress at Kadoma Training Centre.

Meanwhile, these projects reflect Government’s unwavering commitment to delivering tangible results under NDS1.
