Zimbabwe has been listed among the best countries to visit in 2025 by global travel platform Kayak, joining Morocco and other destinations featured for their appeal to international travellers.
The announcement comes as the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo is currently underway in Mutare, where tourism operators, buyers, and international delegates are engaging in exhibitions and networking to promote Zimbabwe’s tourism offerings.
Kayak cited Zimbabwe’s natural attractions, cultural heritage, and affordability as key factors in its inclusion. Popular destinations such as Victoria Falls, Lake Kariba, Hwange National Park, and the Eastern Highlands were highlighted.
Tourists and Zimbabweans in the diaspora have also praised the country as a travel destination.
Learne Wesley, a visitor from the UK, shared her experience.
“I have visited Zimbabwe twice. I enjoyed Harare, Kariba, and Chirundu. The landscapes are beautiful, and I am hoping to visit Victoria Falls next time,” said Wesley.
Sandra Nyoka, another traveller, said Zimbabwe has friendly and accommodative people.
“There is always something to do when I visit Zimbabwe. The roads have improved, and the people are friendly. It is always a good experience,” added Nyoka.
Travel influencer Sharon Washgear commented on the international recognition.
“Zimbabwe has always had potential, and it is good to see that being acknowledged globally. I have been shouting this from the rooftops when it wasn’t popular to do so. Having travelled extensively, I can attest that Zimbabwe’s beauty surpasses that of any other destination I have encountered. Zimbabwe was grossly underrated. Despite my assertions over the past years, our views were not taken seriously. We put Zimbabwe back on the map,” said Washgear.
The Sanganai Expo has also given Mutare and the Eastern Highlands region an opportunity to showcase local tourism products — from scenic mountain ranges to cultural sites and hospitality services.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi, speaking at the expo, said the international interest and tourist feedback were encouraging for the sector.
“Positive reviews from both tourists and travel platforms show that Zimbabwe is moving in the right direction as a destination of choice,” she said.
The Kayak list is expected to further boost awareness and interest in Zimbabwe’s tourism sector, especially as the country works to attract more international arrivals and investment.
