Namibia reaffirms commitment to strengthen tourism cooperation with Zimbabwe

While exhibiting during the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo that took plance in Mutare, last week, the Namibian Tourism Board (NTB) emphasised its commitment to intensify tourism collaboration efforts with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA).

In an interview with this publication, the Marketing Executive for NTB, Paula Olivier said, “We are here to partake in this Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Expo which has been absolutely a great initiative. We are here to reaffirm our relationship with Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. And it has been an honour for us to be in Zimbabwe and to create linkage between Namibia and Zimbabwe.

She further added, “Our Presidents signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in May this year, with the idea to engage in a lot of opportunities, to develop trade partnerships, to develop tourism partnerships within the region, to strengthen our relationship in the SADC region in terms of intra Africa trade travel.”

Olivier also informed  that Namibia Tourism Board had come with seven small to medium enterprises (SMEs),  tourism operators, and hospitality service providers that were selling the Namibian destination.

The call by NTB to strengthen collaboration with the ZTA, along with its participation at this year’s Tourism Expo, aligns well with the Second Republic’s engagement and re-engagement policy. This partnership underscores the importance of regional cooperation in promoting tourism growth, fostering stronger bilateral ties, and showcasing shared opportunities within the sector. This year’s Edition of Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi witnessed the exhibition of many foreign countries including Mozambique,  Indonesia and Malawi.

  1. Regional cooperation on trade and travel is essential for strengthening economic growth and fostering mutual development across nations. By working together, Namibia and Zimbabwe can create seamless trade routes, harmonize travel regulations, and promote greater cultural and economic exchange.
