Chegutu West Advances Rural Development with Solarized Boreholes and Irrigation Projects – Hon. Shacky Timburwa

Chegutu West Constituency is making positive strides toward improving rural livelihoods by rolling out vital infrastructure projects aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “Leave No Place and No One Behind” campaign.

Hon. Shacky Timburwa, the Member of Parliament for Chegutu West, expressed gratitude as his constituency begins installing solar equipment on boreholes, implementing drip irrigation systems for one-hectare nutrition gardens, and erecting fences to protect these community assets.

Speaking on the developments, Hon. Timburwa said, “In line with His Excellency’s call, we are proud to begin equipping boreholes with solar power to ensure reliable water supply year-round. We are also installing drip irrigation systems across one-hectare nutrition gardens and putting up fencing. These efforts will help safeguard the projects and contribute toward food security and sustainable livelihoods in our rural wards.”

The initial rollout targets key locations within the constituency. These include Branswick (Ward 24), Zvamaida Primary (Ward 28), Borden Primary (Ward 28), Oldharm Farm (Ward 25) and Fanharm Farm (Ward 25).

Hon. Timburwa emphasized that while these steps may seem modest, they represent important progress in addressing critical community needs.

“By improving access to clean water and adopting efficient irrigation methods, we are empowering our communities to improve nutrition and agricultural productivity. This approach is fundamental to building resilience and enhancing food security within our wards,” he noted.

The MP further highlighted the importance of working closely with local communities to sustain these projects. “Together, ward by ward, we are steadily building a foundation for long-term development. We remain committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in our journey toward prosperity.”

These projects complement broader national efforts focusing on rural infrastructure and sustainable agriculture, supporting President Mnangagwa’s vision for inclusive growth and development across Zimbabwe.
