Shot In The Arm For Tourism Symposium Student Performers

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. Tongai Mnangagwa, has donated funds and national fabric to students who performed at the Tourism Symposium held yesterday at the University of Zimbabwe.

The gesture was aimed at encouraging young talent in cultural arts and promoting the preservation of Zimbabwean heritage through music, dance, and traditional attire.

Hon. Mnangagwa applauded the students for their performances, which showcased the rich cultural diversity of Zimbabwe. He said the donation was a small but meaningful way to support and motivate young artists who are keeping Zimbabwean tradition alive.

“Culture is a key pillar of tourism. By investing in young performers, we are preserving our identity and building the future of cultural tourism,” he said.

The donated funds are expected to go towards recording traditional music performed by the students, while the national fabric will be used to design costumes that reflect Zimbabwe’s cultural identity.

University officials and students welcomed the gesture, noting the importance of government support in nurturing creative industries and promoting national pride.

The Tourism Symposium brought together students, academics, and stakeholders in the tourism sector to discuss strategies for promoting domestic tourism, heritage preservation, and youth participation in the creative economy.
