DANet launches large-scale housing and empowerment initiative

Destiny for Afrika Network (DANet), led by Reverend Dr. Obediah Musindo, has launched a large-scale housing and empowerment initiative aimed at uplifting Christians across Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the launch event in Mutare recently, Dr. Musindo announced that DANet will provide 12,000 stands for new church hubs, 50,000 stands for church leaders, and over 200,000 stands for Christians in both urban and rural areas. The programme includes a flexible five-year payment plan to make homeownership more accessible for believers.

Dr. Musindo said the vision behind this initiative was rooted in the Bible, where ownership of land and resources was seen as part of Christian inheritance.

He urged believers to embrace a spirit of ownership, not only of homes but also of businesses and natural resources.

“Christians are not destined to live in poverty. Poverty is not our portion. The new church hubs will go beyond being places of worship. They are expected to become community development centres, offering vocational training and social welfare services and creating job opportunities,” he said.

Dr. Musindo also called for the empowerment of pastors, many of whom, he said, face hardship after leaving full-time ministry.

He encouraged them to acquire modern leadership skills and start their own businesses rather than depending solely on offerings.

“Pastors must not just preach; they must work. They must not just pray; they must do something,” he emphasised.

This initiative supports Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, a national development plan championed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Dr. Musindo described the vision as God-inspired and urged Christians to support it at every level.

“The President’s vision addresses the whole person – spirit, body, and mind. As churches, we must stand with government and play our part,” he said.

The DANet project promotes a practical form of Christianity—one that focuses on real-life transformation through economic empowerment, education, and spiritual growth.

With thousands of stands now being distributed, the church is being positioned as a key player in community development and poverty eradication.
