Baba Harare to launch “Greater and Wiser” album today at Jongwe Corner

In a move eagerly awaited by his legion of fans, celebrated musician Baba Harare will today launch his brand-new Jiti album, “Greater and Wiser,” at a major concert at Jongwe Corner along St Patricks Road in Hatfield.

The event marks the official and definitive return of the artist, born Braveman Chizvino, to the energetic Zimdancehall-infused Jiti sound that first catapulted him to stardom, effectively closing his chapter in gospel music.

The announcement ends months of speculation and has sent waves of excitement across the country.

After a spiritually focused, two-year stint performing under the name King David, which produced gospel hits like Sukai alongside Takesure Zamar, Baba Harare publicly declared he was “hanging up the collar” to pick up his guitar for the dancefloor once more.

His loyal supporters have largely celebrated the decision, with many on social media calling his gospel phase a “necessary detour” but expressing overwhelming joy at his homecoming to the genre where he earned his “Godfather” status.

To commemorate this major career pivot, the album launch is designed as a full-scale musical extravaganza. The stage will be shared with a powerhouse lineup of Zimbabwe’s most sought-after artists, including the soulful Feli Nandi, the magnetic Mbeu, the dynamic Prince Chigwida, and the versatile Trevor Dongo.

They will be supported by stellar performances from Calvin Mangena, Obert Chari, Captain Britain, and Culture Love.

The album itself, teased on his social media pages, is already creating a significant buzz, particularly with the hint of a sizzling collaboration with songbird Gemma Griffiths.

For fans, the new music promises a blend of the raw, chart-topping energy of past anthems like Guzuzu and Ramba Wakadzvanya with the newfound depth from his gospel experience.

With tickets priced at $10 for ordinary entry and $20 for VIP access, the venue is expected to be packed to capacity.

Tonight, as the first chords ring out at Jongwe Corner, Baba Harare will not just be launching an album; he will be reclaiming his throne, signalling that Jiti music is once again taking centre stage in Harare.
