ZIMFEP National Director honoured among Africa’s top 100 educational personalities

CDE Gideon Chiukira, the National Director of the Zimbabwe Foundation for Education with Production (ZIMFEP), has been recognised on a continental stage with his nomination as one of the 100 Most Impactful Educational Personalities in Africa for 2025.

The prestigious honour was confirmed in an official nomination letter dated 29 September 2025, issued by the Planning Committee of the Africa Education Summit.

The letter, signed by Honey Olawale, Director of Global Skills Hub, informed CDE Chiukira that his selection was the result of a “rigorous and highly selective screening process,” which evaluated hundreds of outstanding educators and leaders across the continent.

The committee highlighted CDE Chiukira’s “exceptional dedication, innovative contributions, and sustained impact in the field of education,” which have distinguished him as a “true change-maker in Africa’s education landscape.”

He is scheduled to be formally presented with his award certificate at the 4th Africa Education Summit, scheduled for 19–21 March 2026 at the University of Professional Studies in Accra, Ghana.

Described as the most prestigious education gathering on the continent, the summit will convene over 1,000 influential stakeholders, including policymakers, academic leaders, and development partners.

As part of the honour, CDE Chiukira’s profile will be featured in the summit’s official E-magazine, which receives wide circulation across Africa and globally.

This international accolade underscores CDE Chiukira’s significant work at the helm of ZIMFEP, an organisation dedicated to integrating education with practical skills production, a philosophy deeply rooted in Zimbabwe’s educational framework.

This nomination follows closely on the heels of another significant international engagement for the esteemed educator.

Recently, CDE Chiukira led a Zimbabwean delegation to the International Quality Education Conference (IQEC) held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. At that forum, he delivered a powerful address that championed the strides and unique philosophy of Zimbabwe’s education system.

Reports from the conference indicate that he spoke highly of Zimbabwe’s commitment to an education model that combines academic learning with hands-on, productive work, aligning with ZIMFEP’s core mandate.

His presentation was said to have garnered significant interest from other African nations, positioning Zimbabwe as a thought leader in developing sustainable and relevant educational models for the continent’s future.

This back-to-back international recognition and influential advocacy highlight CDE Chiukira’s growing profile as a key voice in shaping the trajectory of African education.
