Youthful Councillor Hails Second Republic for Empowering Young Zimbabweans

ZVIMBA – Ward 35 Councillor for Zvimba East, Cde Ephraim Tendaupenyu Gonzo, has expressed gratitude to the Second Republic for creating unprecedented empowerment and employment opportunities for young people across Mashonaland West Province and the nation at large.

Clr Gonzo, who at just 35 years of age already owns a farm, a residential stand, and holds public office, said his story is testimony to how the Second Republic has opened doors that were once unimaginable for many young Zimbabweans.

“At 35, I already own a farm, a stand, and I am a councillor. These are things that were almost impossible for youths before. The Second Republic has truly given young people a chance to dream big and achieve more,” said Clr Gonzo.

He commended President Mnangagwa’s administration for deliberately placing youth at the centre of national development, particularly through empowerment initiatives in agriculture, mining, and entrepreneurship.

“We are seeing real opportunities for young people to participate in the economy. The Government is walking the talk in employment creation and empowerment. As young people in Mashonaland West, we are witnessing transformation on the ground, from farming inputs support to infrastructure development,” he added.

Clr Gonzo said the fruits of Vision 2030, which seeks to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy are already visible in the accelerated pace of development being experienced across the country.

“Given the level of activity and development we are seeing across sectors, Vision 2030 can be achieved sooner than expected. Roads are being rehabilitated, industries revived, and communities empowered. This is the Zimbabwe we have always envisioned,” he said.

He urged fellow young people to remain patriotic, disciplined, and focused as they take advantage of the enabling environment created by the Government.

“As youths, we must rally behind the Presidium and support the leadership of President Mnangagwa. This is our time to build, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to national development. We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines,” Clr Gonzo said.

The youthful councillor also commended the Government for ensuring inclusivity in development programmes, noting that rural areas are no longer left behind.

Clr Gonzo’s journey mirrors the success of many empowered young Zimbabweans who are driving local development under the Second Republic, a clear sign that the future belongs to a generation ready to take Zimbabwe to greater heights.
