Everything in place for the 22nd  ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference

All is now set for the 22nd ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference, which officially gets underway this week at Mutare Polytechnic College.

The major political event, which brings together the nation’s top leadership, Cabinet ministers, provincial representatives, and thousands of delegates from across the country, is expected to chart the way forward on key national development priorities.

Preparations at the conference venue have been completed, with organisers confirming that infrastructure, accommodation, and logistics are all in place. The college grounds have been transformed into a hive of activity, with vibrant business exhibitions showcasing the country’s economic progress under the Second Republic.

The business expo stands are already filled to capacity, featuring a diverse range of displays from agriculture, engineering, mining, ICT, and manufacturing sectors. Exhibitors include leading public and private entities such as the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), and several local universities, including the Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE), the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST). Their participation reflects growing collaboration between government, academia, and industry in driving innovation and industrialisation.

On the sidelines of the conference, President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to commission several major development projects in Manicaland Province. These include the Mega Market Milling Plant and the Ministry of Health and Child Care-constructed National Pharmaceutical Warehouse at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital. Both projects form part of the government’s broader efforts to boost food security, improve health infrastructure, and enhance service delivery across the nation.

In addition, the President will launch this year’s national tree-planting initiative by leading the symbolic planting exercise at the site earmarked for the new ZANU PF Provincial Offices, located adjacent to the conference venue. The activity is expected to set the tone for the 2025 tree-planting season while underscoring the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Meanwhile, delegates from all provinces are expected to start arriving in Mutare tomorrow ahead of the official opening of the conference. Provincial coordinators have confirmed that transport and accommodation arrangements are well organised, with security and hospitality teams already deployed to ensure a smooth programme.

The conference is anticipated to reaffirm ZANU PF’s development agenda, celebrate the progress made under Vision 2030, and outline strategies for consolidating gains in infrastructure, industrial growth, and rural development. With everything now in place, Mutare is set to host one of the most significant gatherings on Zimbabwe’s political calendar.
