The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reassured citizens and visitors that peace and security will be maintained across the country today.
In a statement issued yesterday, the ZRP Chief Staff Officer (Press and Public Relations) to the Commissioner-General of Police, Paul Nyathi said comprehensive security measures had been put in place to ensure law and order prevails before, during, and after the day.
The police said the deployment of officers across all provinces was part of efforts to safeguard lives, property, and key national infrastructure.
“The Commissioner-General of Police has deployed officers nationwide to ensure the safety and security of all citizens and visitors. Members of the public should go about their daily activities without fear, as the situation remains calm and under control,” read the statement.
He emphasized that essential services such as schools, businesses, government offices, and public transport were operating normally. It also urged members of the public to remain alert and not to be misled by false information or threats circulating on social media platforms.
“Members of the public are urged not to be misled or intimidated by rumours, misinformation, or threats on social media. The police will not hesitate to take action against anyone involved in acts of violence, vandalism, or incitement to commit crime,” Nyathi said
The police further warned that any attempts to organize or participate in unlawful demonstrations, gatherings, or processions would be met with the full force of the law. Citizens were encouraged to report any suspicious activities, threats, or disturbances to the nearest police station.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police remains committed to maintaining peace, law, and order in all communities. We call upon all citizens to cooperate with law enforcement officers and contribute to the stability of our nation,” the statement said.
The reassurance from the ZRP comes as the country continues to prioritize national security and social harmony, with police pledging to remain vigilant in ensuring that peace prevails across Zimbabwe.
