Warriors to play Algeria and Qatar in preparations for AFCON

ZIFA has announced that the warriors will play Algeria and Qatar in international friendly matches which will serve as preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled for December to January 2026.

The matches will be played this November during the FIFA window.

ZIFA has also announced that a new head coach for the Warriors could be appointed in time for the upcoming friendlies, following the sacking of Michael Nees on 22 October.

Zimbabwe will face Egypt, South Africa, and Angola in Group B at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which is set to take place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
