Prophet Magaya expected in court today

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries founder, Prophet Walter Magaya, is expected to appear in court today following his arrest on Saturday morning by a crack team from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

Police confirmed the arrest, stating that Magaya is facing multiple allegations of rape and fraud, though they did not provide further details by late yesterday.

As a result of his detention, the popular preacher missed Sunday’s church service at the PHD headquarters in Waterfalls, Harare. Despite his absence and the unfolding legal developments, church activities continued, with preparations still underway for the upcoming Night of Turnaround event scheduled for this Saturday.

During Sunday’s service, congregants gathered in solidarity with their leader, with many interpreting the situation as a test of faith and even a fulfillment of scripture.

One of PHD’s overseers, Timothy Marasha, sought to encourage the congregation with a sermon drawn from Luke 4:1, which reads: “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.” He likened Prophet Magaya’s current predicament to Jesus’ period of trial and temptation, urging members to remain steadfast.

The case has drawn nationwide attention, with many Zimbabweans awaiting the court proceedings to learn more about the charges against the prominent clergyman.
