Beer thief jailed for breaking into bar

Plumtree Magistrate, Joshua Nembaware, sentenced Armstrong Dube to 24 months in prison for unlawfully entering some business premises where he stole beer and cigarettes valued at US$310.

The Magistrate conditionally suspended nine months of the sentence, leaving Dube to serve 15 months behind bars.

The court heard that on October 17, the bar owner locked up and went home for the night.

The theft was discovered the following morning, and a police report was filed leading to the arrest of Dube.

Police recovered beer worth US$295 from his residence.
