Vice President Gen (Rtd) Dr Constantino G.D.N Chiwenga toured the Hwange Colliery Mine in the company of Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Richard Moyo.
During the visit, the Vice President emphasised the need for Hwange Colliery to accelerate value addition, maximise the use of coal by-products and strengthen its contribution to national power generation.
He noted that the contribution of entities such as Hwange Colliery was crucial in accelerating growth and economic development of the country.
The Vice president underscored that the full exploitation of Hwange`s vast coal resources is critical to Zimbabwe`s industrialisation and energy security goals.
