Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has unveiled the Warriors squad set to face Algeria and Qatar in high-profile international friendly matches to be played in Saudi Arabia next week during the FIFA international break.
These matches will serve as crucial preparatory fixtures for newly appointed Warriors head coach Marian “Mario” Marinica, who will use them to assess his players ahead of Zimbabwe’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals scheduled for Morocco between December and January.
Marinica’s squad features a mix of Europe-based stars, seasoned campaigners, and emerging talents plying their trade across Africa and beyond.
Goalkeepers
Washington Arubi (Marumo Gallants), Elvis Chipezeze (Magesi FC), and Martin Mapisa (MWOS FC) have been trusted to provide depth and competition between the posts.
In Defence
The team boasts a strong lineup including Teenage Hadebe (FC Cincinnati), Divine Lunga (Mamelodi Sundowns), Brandon Galloway (Plymouth Argyle), and Munashe Garananga (FC Copenhagen) — all of whom bring international experience and tactical versatility.
The Midfield
Will be anchored by the dependable Marvelous Nakamba (Luton Town), supported by dynamic options such as Jonah Fabisch (FC Erzgebirg Aue), Tawanda Chirewa (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Sean Fusire (Sheffield Wednesday), and Jordan Zemura (Udinese). The blend of creativity and work rate in this department is expected to be a key asset in Marinica’s tactical setup.
Upfront
The Warriors will rely on the leadership and experience of Knowledge Musona, alongside rising stars Tawanda Maswanhise (Motherwell), Bill Antonio (KV Mechelen), and Prince Dube (Young Africans). Their pace and flair could give Zimbabwe a cutting edge in attack.
Marinica will be assisted by Kaitano Tembo, with Pernel Charles McKop as goalkeepers’ coach and Chikondi Mandalasi handling strength and conditioning.
The technical team also includes Abraham Mbaiwa (Fitness Trainer), Ronald Dumisani Moroka, and James Makoni (Analysts).
