Renowned Gweru-based obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Farikai Manjeya (49), has been arrested for allegedly using methamphetamine, commonly known in street lingo as “mutoriro.”
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Dr Manjeya was apprehended on November 9 after being caught indulging in the illicit substance with three other suspects, namely Tafara Chigoya (28), Kudakwashe Godknows Mutata (29), and Tariro Pambwa (35).
The four were allegedly found in the act at the doctor’s cottages in Gweru, where Manjeya resides. Acting on a tip-off, police swooped in and arrested the group before seizing evidence believed to be the highly addictive stimulant.
The NPA confirmed that all four suspects are in custody and are expected to appear in court soon for a bail hearing.
Methamphetamine, or mutoriro, has been classified as a dangerous narcotic under Zimbabwean law, with authorities warning that its abuse is contributing to rising cases of addiction, mental health issues, and social decay across the country.

And we say we have a doctor in this man? What doctor?
