Prophet Magaya’s case postponed to 9 December

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya and his wife Tendai Magaya has been postponed to 9 December, after the State indicated it still needs more time to complete investigations.

Prosecutors told the court that some key witness statements are yet to be recorded, making it impossible to proceed. The defence did not oppose the postponement but placed the State on notice, insisting that they expect to receive a definite trial date when the matter returns to court next month.

The Magayas, who are out on bail, appeared before Mrs Gofa Marehwanazvo for routine remand proceedings.

The couple is facing fraud charges linked to their companies, Planet Africa Private Limited and Yadah Connect Private Limited. They are accused of defrauding 13 complainants of US$49 240 and R195 000 in a land deal that allegedly collapsed.

In addition to the fraud allegations, Prophet Magaya is facing 78 counts of fraud and five separate counts of rape, which remain before the courts.

The matter will return on 9 December, when the defence expects full disclosure and a set trial roadmap.
