A gang of four armed robbers stormed Meru Service Station in Kwekwe on November 17, overpowering five Fawcett Security guards before blasting open a safe and escaping with more than US$9,000.
Police confirmed the incident in a statement posted on their official X account, revealing how the criminals executed the raid with precision and force. According to the statement, the robbers first confronted a Fawcett guard on duty, ordering him to lie down before tying his hands and legs. They then dragged him into the building.
A second guard who attempted to alert the Fawcett Reaction Team was quickly intercepted, subdued, and taken to the same room where the first guard was being held.
The suspects went on to break into another room where three more Fawcett guards were asleep. They tied up all three, effectively neutralising all security personnel on site.
With the guards restrained, the robbers blasted a wall-mounted safe and stole US$9,700 before fleeing the scene.
Police investigations are underway, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward as the search for the suspects intensifies.
