Industry and Commerce Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu has outlined the Government’s key strategies to revive Zimbabwe’s economy, emphasizing that the country is on a firm path toward achieving Vision 2030.
Delivering a lecture to students at the Zimbabwe National Defence University (ZNDU) yesterday, Minister Ndlovu said the engagement provided an important platform to discuss the nation’s economic trajectory and the measures being implemented to restore growth.
“It was a pleasure to interact with students at ZNDU today. I presented on the strategies implemented to revive the economy in pursuit of Vision 2030,” he said.
The Minister highlighted that the Government remains focused on increasing capacity utilisation in the manufacturing sector, strengthening the commercial sector, and consolidating gains from recent policy reforms.
“We spoke about capacity utilisation, the state of the commercial sector, policy frameworks and the overview of the manufacturing sector,” he said.
The Minister highlighted several key investments that have been made across strategic sectors, saying they are already beginning to stimulate domestic value chains.
“We also discussed key investments, economic empowerment and reserved sectors,” Ndlovu said.
He added that the ongoing ease-of-doing-business reforms are helping to attract investment and foster a more predictable operating environment.
“Industrial funding mechanisms including venture capital support, retooling facilities and local content incentives are also being expanded to strengthen the competitiveness of local industries.
We covered the ease of doing business, industrial funding and the local content strategy amongst others,” he added.
Minister Ndlovu described the engagement as insightful, noting that the exchange of ideas demonstrated the importance of collaboration between Government and academic institutions.
“The visit was insightful. Ideas were exchanged, and it is true that the existence of a sound economy is enhanced by a peaceful environment,” he said.
Ndlovu thanked ZNDU for the invitation and pledged to deepen cooperation as the country accelerates its march toward Vision 2030.
