The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched an intensive manhunt following a multiple murder incident in Guruve in which five members of the same family were killed on the night of December 11, 2025.
In a statement, ZRP national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the incident occurred at Plot 9, Ona Farm, Guruve, and described it as a “callous multiple murder” now under active investigation. Police have identified the suspect as Anymore Zvitsva, who is alleged to have attacked members of his family at their homestead.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a callous multiple murder incident which occurred on the night of 11th December 2025 at Plot 9, Ona Farm, Guruve,” Nyathi said.
The victims have been identified as Grace Zvitsva (66), Loice Chiringaushe (37), Takudzwa Kariva (five), Tatenda Chirenje (two) and Tendai Zvitsva (40). Nyathi said the victims included an adult female, her two children and two grandchildren.
According to police, the attack was discovered after a neighbour was awakened by noise coming from the homestead and rushed to investigate with two other villagers.
“Upon arrival, the neighbour observed bloodstains at the kitchen doorstep and found Tendai Zvitsva unconscious and bleeding profusely with deep cuts on the chest,” Nyathi said.
Police said further inspection of the homestead revealed extensive bloodstains and the bodies of four victims lying in the main bedroom.
“The bodies of Grace Zvitsva, Loice Chiringaushe, Takudzwa Kariva and Tatenda Chirenje were found in the main bedroom,” Nyathi said.
Tendai Zvitsva was rushed to Guruve Hospital but died upon admission. Police later rescued five of Grace Zvitsva’s grandchildren who had been sleeping in a spare bedroom at the time of the attack.
“The search continued in other rooms leading to the rescue of five of Grace Zvitsva’s grandchildren who were found unharmed,” Nyathi said.
Police have intensified the search for the suspect, deploying specialised units and technology to track him down.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has intensified the search for the suspect with the aid of drone technology and manhunt teams comprising the Support Unit, Criminal Investigations Department, Canine Unit, Horse Patrols and intelligence units,” Nyathi said.
He added that the suspect is believed to be hiding in nearby forests and mountainous terrain, and that traditional leaders and members of the community have joined the police effort.
Nyathi also said the suspect is linked to other murder cases in Zimuna Village under Chief Bepura, where three people were recently killed in circumstances still under investigation.
Police have appealed to the public for information that may lead to the suspect’s arrest, urging anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to contact the National Complaints Desk or report to the nearest police station.
