Mat North Launches 2026 Strategic Planning Workshop

The Office of the President and Cabinet in Matabeleland North Province, yesterday, officially opened the 2026 Strategic Planning Workshop, at A Zambezi Hotel, in Victoria Falls, aimed at guiding the province’s development priorities for the next five years under Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 framework.

The workshop provides a platform for provincial officials to reflect, redesign, and recalibrate development strategies as the province transitions from the National Development Strategy One (NDS1) to NDS2.

In his opening remarks, yesterday, Acting Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr. T. Mugoriya, praised staff for their dedication and urged continued collaboration to achieve provincial development goals.

“This workshop is not just about planning; it is about shaping the future of Matabeleland North. Our aim is to work as one team, ensuring that every decision we make contributes to the growth and empowerment of our communities,” Mugoriya said.

He emphasized the importance of servant leadership, reminding officials that public office is about service rather than authority.

“As public servants, we are here to serve the people, not to act as bosses. Every action we take should reflect our commitment to leaving no one and no place behind,” he added.

Mugoriya further urged officials to embrace innovation and accountability in implementing the new strategic plan.

“Our province has great potential, but it requires dedication, creativity, and discipline. We must aspire to achieve the best for Matabeleland North and ensure that our development journey contributes to the country’s Vision 2030,” he said.

The workshop will also serve as a forum to identify priority projects, assess challenges under NDS1, and align provincial objectives with national development targets under NDS2. Officials said the planning process will strengthen governance, improve service delivery, and ensure socio-economic transformation across Matabeleland North.
