Vice President Mohadi to tour Mapfura Amarula Plant

Vice President, Dr Kembo Mohadi, is scheduled to tour the Mapfura Amarula Plant in Mwenezi District on 16 January, 2026, as part of Government efforts to promote rural industrialisation and value addition.

The State event will be anchored at Rutenga Primary School, which will serve as the main venue, with residents from across the district invited to attend.

Member of Parliament for Mwenezi East Constituency, Sheillah Chikomo, described the visit as a significant milestone for the district, urging community members to participate in large numbers.

“This visit demonstrates Government’s commitment to developing rural communities. We are inviting everyone in Mwenezi to witness this historic tour and engage with national leadership,” MP Chikomo said.

She added that transport arrangements had been put in place to ensure maximum participation.

“Buses will be available throughout the district to ferry people to Rutenga Primary School so that no one is left behind,” she said.

The Mapfura Amarula Plant is regarded as a key community project in the area, contributing towards job creation and income generation, especially for women and youths.

The Vice President’s visit is expected to underscore the role of rural value-addition initiatives in advancing Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 development agenda. Government is also keen to replicate such models in other districts to stimulate local economies, create employment, and strengthen national food and income security.

The tour will also highlight the broader policy of rural industrialisation, which seeks to decentralise economic activities from urban centers and promote sustainable economic growth in rural communities.
