Maswanhise shines among AFCON rising stars

Zimbabwe’s Warriors forward Tawanda Maswanhise has been recognised among the most promising players of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), reflecting his growing impact on the continental stage.

Maswanhise earned the recognition alongside Cameroon’s Christian Kofane and Côte d’Ivoire’s Christ Inao Oulaï, after making a notable impact despite limited game time at the finals.

The 23-year-old made just one start during the tournament but delivered decisively, scoring against South Africa. He also featured briefly off the bench in Zimbabwe’s match against Egypt.

His inclusion among the tournament’s top emerging players underlines the impact of that performance and highlights his growing stature at the international level.

At club level, Maswanhise has been in fine form, scoring 15 league goals for Scottish side Motherwell FC.
