The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) has cautioned the public against fraudulent advertisements circulating on social media and other platforms allegedly relating to the August 2026 first-year undergraduate enrolment.
In a notice issued by the Division of the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Doreen Tirivanhu, the university confirmed that applications for the August 2026 undergraduate intake have not yet opened.
“The University of Zimbabwe notes with concern the circulation of advertisements and campaigns purporting to relate to the August 2026 first-year undergraduate enrolment,” the notice stated.
UZ said it will launch an official career guidance and awareness campaign in due course, providing prospective students with detailed information about its academic programmes. The campaign will be conducted exclusively through official university platforms, including the UZ website, its official Facebook page, Pachikomo FM 95.2, as well as national radio and television stations.
The university emphasized that application platforms will only be opened after the conclusion of the official awareness campaign, with opening dates and procedures communicated through authorised channels.
Members of the public were urged to be cautious and avoid individuals or entities claiming to facilitate first-year enrolment for a fee.
“The University of Zimbabwe does not conduct enrolment business through WhatsApp or other unofficial social media platforms,” Tirivanhu said.
UZ advised stakeholders and prospective applicants to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate and up-to-date information.
