PSL weekend round-up

The 2026 season of the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League burst into life over the weekend as teams across the country battled in the opening round of fixtures, producing dramatic finishes, surprise results and early statements in the race for the title. From Harare to Bulawayo and Zvishavane, fans were treated to tight contests, derby tension and a few early shocks as clubs began their quest for league glory.

Dynamos Sneak Narrow Win

In Harare, traditional giants Dynamos F.C. started their campaign with a hard-fought 2–1 win over TelOne F.C.

Dynamos showed their experience to grind out the result, securing three valuable points and briefly climbing to the top of the early league standings after the opening round.

CAPS United Start Strong

At Rufaro Stadium, CAPS United made a winning start with a 2–1 victory over newcomers AGAMA FC.

Ishmael Wadi put the Green Machine ahead before AGAMA responded through Ishmael Nyampurika. But CAPS had the final say when Allen Mukombedzi struck the decisive goal, sending the home supporters into celebration and giving CAPS an early boost in the standings.

Ngezi Strike First Big Blow

At Baobab Stadium, Ngezi Platinum Stars edged past FC Platinum 2–1 in one of the most anticipated clashes of the opening weekend.

Ngezi showed composure and attacking intent to secure the victory, handing the Zvishavane side an early setback while igniting their own title ambitions. The result immediately put Ngezi among the early pacesetters as the new campaign began.

Highlanders Held in Bulawayo Derby

Barbourfields Stadium hosted the weekend’s fiercest derby as Highlanders FC shared the spoils with Bulawayo Chiefs in a 1–1 draw.

Chiefs stunned the home crowd when Zibusiso Dambo fired them ahead, but Bosso fought back and Benjamin Adeogun struck late to rescue a point in a thrilling contest.

Kariba Grab Away Victory

ZPC Kariba F.C. produced one of the weekend’s most disciplined displays, defeating Triangle United F.C. 1–0 away from home.

The narrow victory demonstrated Kariba’s defensive solidity and ensured they also began the season with maximum points.

Newcomers Hold Their Own

League debutants F.C. Hunters impressed in their first top-flight outing, battling to a goalless draw against MWOS F.C..

Hunters, promoted after winning the Eastern Region Division One title last season, showed defensive resilience as they earned their first PSL point.

Simba Bhora Snatch Narrow Win

In Mutare, Simba Bhora FC edged Manica Diamonds FC 1–0 thanks to a solitary strike from Chris Mukumbira, giving the Shamva-based side a perfect start to the campaign.

Other Weekend Results

  • Herentals F.C. 1–1 Chicken Inn F.C.

These matches added further intrigue as several clubs began the season evenly matched.

Early Table Taking Shape

After the opening round, teams like Dynamos, Ngezi Platinum and ZPC Kariba are among the early leaders with three points each, while several sides sit just behind after draws.

With defending champions Scottland F.C. also in the mix this season, the title race already promises to be fiercely contested.
