Two nabbed in Beatrice robbery spree, third suspect on the run

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested two suspects in connection with a series of armed robbery cases that occurred in Beatrice on March 5 and 6, while a third suspect is still at large.

In a statement this Sunday, police confirmed the arrest of 22-year-old Conrad Moyo and 24-year-old Milford Sidhakwa following a robbery report received on March 6, involving an incident that occurred the previous night at around 2200 hours at a bar in Beatrice.

Police say the suspects allegedly attacked a security guard and a bar attendant before stealing two cellphones, cash and alcoholic beverages.

Officers swiftly attended the scene and conducted a motorised patrol along the Harare-Masvingo Road, which led to the arrest of the two suspects.

“The arrest led to the recovery of 20 smartphones, US$780, ZiG$110, two torches, a bolt cutter, a machete, a necklace, an electric shocker and a satchel.

“The suspects are being linked to seven armed robbery cases including a robbery case which occurred at a motel in Beatrice on March 6, at around 0120hrs where US$371 alcoholic beverages and two cellphones, among other valuables were stolen and another case of robbery which occurred on March 6 at around 0145 hours at a plot in Rocklands, Beatrice where four cellphones and US$609 were stolen,” the police said.

Police investigations are continuing to establish the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in the robbery cases.

Meanwhile, the ZRP is appealing for information from members of the public that may assist in the arrest of an outstanding suspect, Shadreck Shava, who is believed to be linked to the robbery incidents.

Members of the public with information are urged to report to their nearest police station.
