Gwanda MP leads reintegration of SA returnees

Gwanda-Tshitaudze Member of Parliament, Fisani Manala Moyo, has intensified efforts to support the smooth reintegration of Zimbabweans returning from South Africa, pledging assistance to returnees as Government rolls out a voluntary repatriation programme.

His intervention follows President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for Zimbabweans to embrace and support citizens returning home, whether voluntarily or through Government-facilitated programmes.

In an interview with this publication, Moyo said his constituency office had introduced measures aimed at ensuring that returnees from the Gwanda-Tshitaudze area are reintegrated into their communities with dignity.

“The Government has initiated the voluntary repatriation of our brothers and sisters from the Republic of South Africa. As their Member of Parliament, I want to assure all returnees from my constituency that the office is open to them and my team is on standby to assist them as they settle back into their communities,” he said.

Moyo said his office would assist returnees to access personal documentation, food assistance, referrals for temporary accommodation and facilitate school enrolment for children where necessary.

He said returning Zimbabweans remained an important component of the country’s development agenda.

“Our National Vision 2030 aims for an upper-middle-income economy built on unity and productivity. Our returning sons and daughters are an integral part of that vision, and we must ensure they are supported to rebuild their lives,” he said.

Moyo reaffirmed that his office would work closely with the District Development Coordinator, the Department of Social Welfare and relevant Government ministries to address the immediate welfare needs of returnees.
