Zanu PF supporters gathered in their thousands across the country’s 10 provinces over the weekend for Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3 (CAA3) Thank You rallies, with party leaders expressing gratitude for public support during the consultative process and calling for renewed focus on national development and Vision 2030.
In Harare, thousands of party supporters converged at Epworth High School, where Harare Provincial Chairperson, Godwills Masimirembwa commended President Mnangagwa’s leadership, saying the party remained committed to his vision of leaving no one and no place behind.
“We need President Mnangagwa to continue to guide the party and supervise Government to ensure that Vision 2030 is realised,” he said.
Echoing Masimirembwa’s sentiments, Zanu PF Secretary for Education, Research and Ideology, Charles Tawengwa, thanked members for their contribution to the successful enactment of CAA3.
“I am here to thank each and every one of you for your contributions, both oral and written, towards this monumental Act. Your engagement, support and unwavering dedication have made this possible,” said Tawengwa.
“Your submissions were analysed meticulously to ensure that the amendments reflect the aspirations of the people of Zimbabwe. We appreciate that many of you sacrificed your time, resources and sometimes faced challenges to ensure your views were heard. Your dedication has enriched this process.”
In Bulawayo, supporters gathered at Stanley Square in Makokoba, where Politburo member, Elifas Mashaba described the rally as a celebration of citizen participation and constitutional democracy.
“We have gathered here not only to celebrate Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, but also to thank the people of Zimbabwe for their unwavering participation throughout the consultative process. This amendment is a product of the people’s contributions, aspirations and commitment to the future of our country,” he said.
In Manicaland, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Christopher Mutsvangwa, addressing supporters at Mutare Teachers’ College, said the benefits of the constitutional amendment would become more evident as Government completed ongoing infrastructure projects under Vision 2030.
He said large-scale development projects required time to deliver lasting results, adding that President Mnangagwa remained focused on building infrastructure to sustain economic growth.
In Mashonaland East, Provincial Chairperson, Daniel Garwe said the enactment of CAA3 marked the beginning of a new phase in which Zimbabweans should concentrate on implementing the country’s development agenda.
At Chakari Grounds, in Mashonaland West, Provincial Chairperson, Mary Mliswa thanked supporters for their commitment during the constitutional amendment campaign.
In Masvingo, Politburo member and Minister of State Security, Lovemore Matuke addressed party supporters, while in Mashonaland Central, Provincial Chairperson and Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Kazembe Kazembe said the amendment would ensure continuity in implementing Government development programmes.
In Midlands, Politburo member, July Moyo urged supporters gathered at Mbizo Grounds in Kwekwe to shift their attention towards accelerating development following the enactment of the constitutional amendment.
Meanwhile, in Matabeleland South, Provincial Chairperson Mangaliso Ndlovu said the party had established district structures to assist with the reintegration and profiling of Zimbabweans returning from South Africa, complementing Government’s ongoing repatriation and reintegration programme.
The nationwide rallies marked the culmination of the party’s campaign in support of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, with leaders thanking Zimbabweans for their participation in the consultative process and calling for unity in advancing the country’s development agenda.
