Legendary English footballer and two-time Ballon d’Or winner Kevin Keegan passed away at the age of 75 on July 20, 2026, following a battle with stage four cancer.
He died surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Keegan was one of the most iconic figures in English football, earning 63 caps for the national team and starring for clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle United.
During his illustrious playing career, he won three league titles, the European Cup, and the Bundesliga, as well as consecutive Ballon d’Or awards in 1978 and 1979. Later in his career, he transitioned into management, taking charge of the England national team and transforming Newcastle United into Premier League title contenders with his famed “Entertainers” squad in the mid-1990s.
