Tsholotsho leads the way in championing road safety

Tsholotsho – The Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZIICC), together with the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ), trained 177 “champions of safety” at a one-day workshop at the Tsholotsho Vocational Training Centre.

The MP for Tsholotsho South, Cde Musa Ncube, urged young people to shun drugs and alcohol, saying, “Our young people must say no to drugs and alcohol. Supporting Vision 2030 starts with protecting ourselves and our communities.”

Chief Mahlathini emphasized road safety for all, especially scotch cart users: “Most accidents happen because people ignore simple safety measures, like using reflectors. Let us take responsibility for our own safety.”

ZIICC led prayers for an accident-free festive season, while the Traffic Safety Council equipped participants with practical skills to reduce road accidents.

A facilitator stressed, “The fight against road accidents is everyone’s responsibility. By empowering these champions, we hope safety awareness spreads to every corner of Tsholotsho.”

Cde Dorah Msimanga, Provincial Chairlady of the Women’s League, and representatives from various Government ministries also attended the workshop.

Through this initiative, ZIICC and the TSCZ are fostering a culture of road safety and ensuring communities take proactive steps to protect themselves, especially during the festive season.
