Provisional Warriors AFCON 2025 squad announced

Warriors head coach Marian Marinica has announced a 51-man provisional Warriors squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Morocco.

The tournament will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

The Warriors will open their campaign against Egypt’s Pharaohs on 22 December at the Grand Stade d’Agadir in the coastal city of Agadir, with kick-off set for 7 PM CAT.

They will then face Angola on Boxing Day at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, before concluding their group stage matches against neighbours South Africa on 29 December, also in Marrakech.

The roster, aimed at providing maximum flexibility for assessment, features a blend of local talent and foreign-based players.

The sheer size of the call-up is unusual, suggesting the technical team is utilizing this preparatory window to re-evaluate the national team setup and integrate new blood alongside experienced hands.

The inclusion of veterans like knowledge Musona and Alec Mudimu provides a critical balance of leadership, while younger names and local stars are given a clear path to compete for a spot.

Macauley Bonne has been named in the squad, his first provisional inclusion in over three years.

The notable ommission is Khama Billiat, who was not included in the team, he also missed Marinica’s first two games in charge.
