Government moves to resolve Chewore Safari Lodge dispute

Government, through the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife (MECW), has engaged all parties involved in the ongoing Chewore Safari Lodge dispute, including Suscaden, Big 5, and the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority.

The discussions, held on Thursday, aimed to foster dialogue and reach an amicable resolution, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to fair, investment-friendly practices and the sustainable management of Zimbabwe’s tourism and wildlife assets.

“The engagements have been constructive, and all parties have expressed a shared commitment to resolving the matter within the shortest possible time frame, in a manner that is fair, mutually beneficial, and aligned with the applicable legal and policy frameworks,” read the statement.

The Ministry also emphasized Zimbabwe’s investment-friendly stance, saying the Government remains open for business and affirms its continued commitment to the promotion, protection and facilitation of investment.

“Consistent with the guiding principles of the Second Republic, the Ministry reiterates that Zimbabwe remains open for business and affirms its continued commitment to the promotion, protection and facilitation of investment,” said the statement.

Chewore Safari Lodge, a key tourism destination, has been at the center of a protracted dispute. Analysts say that government’s intervention is expected to safeguard investor confidence and ensure the sustainable management of the country’s wildlife and tourism assets.
