Bitumen World construction company has taken responsibility, following the circulation of a social media post showing one of its excavators being tracked, for causing damage on a public road.
In a public statement, the company apologised to members of the public for any concern or inconvenience the incident may have caused. Bitumen World said it was aware of the situation and was treating it seriously.
“We sincerely apologise to members of the public for this incident and any concern or inconvenience it may have caused. We will be assessing the road and if any damage has been caused by our machine we will have it repaired.”
The company said it would assess the condition of the affected road and undertake repairs should any damage be identified as having been caused by the movement of its machinery.

Bitumen World further stated that it has operational procedures and safety controls in place governing the movement and use of heavy equipment. According to the company, the incident is being dealt with internally to ensure appropriate action is taken and to prevent a recurrence.
