The Zimbabwe Warriors will kick off their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign with an away match against Sierra Leone national football team in Freetown on September 21. Head coach Kaitano Tembo and his squad are targeting a strong start on the road as they begin their push for continental qualification.
Zimbabwe’s first home match will come on October 6 when they host the DR Congo national football team, who are headed to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The fixture will take place at the National Sports Stadium, which is receiving its final upgrades after reopening for Premier Soccer League action.
Match days three and four, scheduled for November, will see the Warriors take on Equatorial Guinea national football team home and away. The trip to Malabo is expected to be particularly challenging due to tough playing conditions.
Zimbabwe will conclude their qualifying run in March 2027 with a home tie against Sierra Leone before travelling to Kinshasa for their final match against DRC between March 22 and 30.
As part of their preparations, the Warriors will participate in the upcoming Unity Cup tournament in London, where they will face Nigeria national football team, Jamaica national football team, and India national football team ahead of the AFCON qualifiers in September.
