The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), in partnership with Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) and the Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ), will host a technology-focused international anti-corruption research conference in Bulawayo from 4 to 6 August, bringing together experts to explore digital solutions in the fight against graft.
ZACC said the conference will provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange research findings, share experiences and develop innovative approaches to preventing, detecting and combating corruption.
“The conference seeks to create a platform where researchers, policymakers, innovators and practitioners can collaborate in developing evidence-based solutions that harness technology to strengthen anti-corruption efforts,” ZACC said.
The conference will be held under the theme “Leveraging Disruptive Technologies to Strengthen Anti-Corruption Strategies” and will bring together researchers, policymakers, academics, innovators and anti-corruption practitioners to explore how emerging technologies can enhance transparency, accountability and integrity.
The organisers said technology has become an increasingly important tool in improving the detection of corruption risks, enhancing public oversight and strengthening institutional accountability.
Key areas of discussion will include Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics in corruption detection, blockchain technology for public financial management, e-governance, open data, cybersecurity, digital evidence and technology-enabled whistleblowing platforms.
Participants will also examine digital identity systems and the ethical, legal and regulatory challenges associated with the use of digital anti-corruption tools.
“As corruption evolves, there is a need for innovative approaches that leverage disruptive technologies to improve prevention, detection and response mechanisms,” the organisers said.
The conference is expected to facilitate collaboration among universities, research institutions, Government agencies, technology experts and anti-corruption bodies in developing practical strategies to address emerging corruption challenges.
Participants will also have an opportunity to present research papers, engage in policy discussions and contribute ideas towards strengthening Zimbabwe’s anti-corruption framework and the broader global integrity agenda.
The conference comes as Zimbabwe continues to prioritise the fight against corruption through institutional reforms, public awareness initiatives and enhanced accountability mechanisms, with digital innovation increasingly viewed as a critical enabler in promoting good governance.
