The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) is targeting one million licensed vehicles through a compliance drive at its stand at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, where motorists are being offered discounts and penalty waivers to regularise their vehicle status.
In a statement, yesterday ZINARA said, “We’re on a mission to license 1,000,000 vehicles, and every compliant motorist gets us closer to safer, better-connected roads.
Motorists with historical arrears can benefit from a 100% waiver on penalties when they settle their outstanding obligations. The penalty waiver applies to all vehicle classes and is available at Zinara offices,” they said.
At the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, motorists are also being offered a 50% discount on current renewal fees for vehicles weighing less than 2 250kg.
“The Agricultural show offer was time-bound, urging motorists attending the exhibition to take advantage of the discount while the promotion lasts.
Motorists unable to visit the Zinara stand at the show can still benefit from a 25% discount on current renewals at Zinara licensing offices and tollgates nationwide,” Zinara said.
The authority said the compliance campaign was intended to make it easier for vehicle owners to regularise their status while expanding the number of licensed vehicles on Zimbabwe’s roads.
“The one-million-vehicle target reflects Zinara’s efforts to improve compliance and strengthen the administration of vehicle licensing, with motorists being encouraged to settle arrears rather than allowing penalties and outstanding obligations to accumulate.
Now is the perfect time to regularize your vehicle status, clear your arrears, and #BeOneInAMillion,” Zinara added.
Meanwhile, the campaign is expected to attract motorists seeking to renew licences, clear historical arrears and take advantage of the promotional discounts.
