…. ZRP appeals for information
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has appealed to members of the public for information that could assist in locating five fugitives wanted by the Zambia Police Service for various serious offences, including aggravated robbery, assault and cybercrime.
In a statement, yesterday, ZRP Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the appeal was part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies and combat transnational criminal activities.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police, through the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, is working closely with the Zambia Police Service in strengthening cross-border police cooperation and combating transnational crime within the region,” said Nyathi.
The five individuals are believed to be in Zimbabwe, with authorities seeking public assistance to establish their whereabouts and facilitate appropriate legal action.
“The individuals are believed to be in Zimbabwe and the Police are appealing to members of the public for any information which may assist in establishing their whereabouts and facilitate appropriate lawful action in accordance with the applicable legal and police cooperation frameworks,” he said.
The first fugitive, Emmanuel “Jay Jay” Banda, is wanted in connection with aggravated robbery, attempted murder and escaping from lawful custody, while Kaizar Peter Zulu is wanted for the conversion of a motor vehicle, threatening violence and assault.
The third fugitive, Enock Mwanza, is wanted in connection with unauthorised access to a computer system, unauthorised interference with a computer system and cyberattack-related offences. Robert Ng’uni and Susan Chileshe are also wanted in connection with similar alleged cybercrime offences.
Nyathi said the five individuals were wanted for offences allegedly committed separately in Zambia, with the ZRP assisting its counterparts in the investigations.
“In this regard, the Zimbabwe Republic Police is assisting with inquiries relating to five (5) fugitives who are wanted by the Zambia Police Service in connection with various serious offences committed separately in Zambia, including aggravated robbery, theft and cybercrime,” he said.
The police warned members of the public against approaching or confronting the suspects, urging them instead to share any relevant information with law enforcement authorities.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates its commitment to strengthening cooperation with regional and international law-enforcement partners in preventing and combating transnational organised and serious crime,” Nyathi said.
Members of the public with information on the fugitives’ whereabouts have been urged to report to their nearest police station, contact the National Complaints Desk on 0242 703631, send a WhatsApp message to 0712 800 197 or contact INTERPOL NCB Harare on +263 242 700099.
