All systems go for Zanu PF conference

Preparations for the 23rd Zanu PF National People’s Conference have gathered momentum, with overall readiness now exceeding 60 percent as the ruling party intensifies preparations for its annual gathering in Chinhoyi, this October.

The conference, which will be held under the theme, “From Resolutions to Results: Consolidating Economic Development and Deepening Economic Empowerment Towards Vision 2030,” is expected to bring together thousands of delegates from across the country, representatives of sister revolutionary parties and Government officials.

Addressing the first joint meeting of the National People’s Conference Coordination Committee in Chinhoyi yesterday, Zanu PF National Chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, represented by the party’s Treasurer-General, Patrick Chinamasa, said preparations were progressing according to schedule.

She said all sub-committees had already surpassed the 60 percent preparedness mark, reflecting the commitment of the organising teams to ensure the successful hosting of the conference.

“Our preparations are progressing well, with all sub-committees now recording preparedness levels above 60 percent. We are confident that all outstanding issues will be addressed within the stipulated timelines to ensure a successful conference,” she said.

Muchinguri-Kashiri said this year’s conference would place particular emphasis on the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in driving economic transformation and creating sustainable livelihoods.

She said the SME exhibition village would be one of the conference’s highlights, showcasing locally produced goods, innovation and entrepreneurship as evidence of the impact of the party’s economic empowerment policies.

“The SME exhibitions must be given the highest priority because they demonstrate how our policies are translating into economic growth, job creation, value addition and industrialisation as we advance towards Vision 2030,” she said.

Giving an update on behalf of the host province, Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial chairperson, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka said accommodation arrangements were progressing well despite a remaining shortfall.

“We have secured 350 rooms for our VVIP and VIP delegates. To bridge the remaining gap, we have identified 18 houses and boarding facilities which are currently being inspected, while the search for additional accommodation is continuing,” she said.

She expressed confidence that the outstanding accommodation requirements would be met before the conference, allowing delegates to be comfortably accommodated during one of the ruling party’s most significant annual events.

With preparations gathering momentum, organisers expressed confidence that all outstanding logistical requirements would be completed within the set timelines, paving the way for a successful conference expected to chart the ruling party’s policy direction and review progress towards the attainment of Vision 2030.
