Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, Professor Paul Mavima, has called for greater emphasis on healthy living, inclusivity and teamwork among public sector employees, saying a motivated and healthy workforce is central to achieving sustainable national development.
Prof Mavima made the remarks after leading officials and staff from his ministry in the Walk for Life Campaign, organised by the Department of Gender Inclusivity and Awareness, as part of efforts to promote wellness and unity within the workplace.
“I had the privilege of leading the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities in the Walk for Life Campaign, organised by our Department of Gender Inclusivity and Awareness,” said Prof Mavima.
He said it was encouraging to witness colleagues coming together in support of an initiative that promotes healthy lifestyles and inclusivity.
“It was encouraging to see colleagues come together in promoting healthy living, inclusivity, and teamwork,” he said.
Prof Mavima said as the ministry continues implementing its mandate of providing decent housing and social amenities, attention must also be placed on ensuring that employees remain healthy, united and productive.
“As we continue delivering on our mandate, we remain committed to fostering a healthy and united workforce, because people are at the heart of sustainable national development,” he said.
The Minister expressed appreciation to the Department of Gender Inclusivity and Awareness for organising the campaign, describing it as an important initiative in promoting wellness and cohesion within the ministry.
“My sincere appreciation goes to the Department of Gender Inclusivity and Awareness for organising this important initiative, and to all who participated,” said Prof Mavima.
He said collaborative efforts among Government institutions and employees were critical in supporting national development objectives and advancing the country’s long-term development agenda.
“Together, we continue building a healthier Zimbabwe and advancing Vision 2030,” Prof Mavima said.
The Walk for Life Campaign forms part of efforts by Government institutions to encourage workplace wellness programmes, improve employee morale and promote inclusive environments that support productivity.
The Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities continues to play a key role in the country’s development agenda through the provision of housing infrastructure, social amenities and support for inclusive urban development in line with national aspirations under Vision 2030.
