Global hospitality giant Hilton is set to enter Zimbabwe’s hotel market with the development of a 140-room Hilton Garden Inn in Harare’s Highlands area, with the property expected to open in early 2029.
In a press statement, yesterday, Hilton’s Middle East and Africa Chief Development Officer, Carlos Khneisser, announced the signing.
“We are proud to partner with Terrace Africa to introduce Hilton Garden Inn’s bright service, thoughtful amenities, and dependable guest experience to Harare.
The hotel, which will be located in the established Highlands residential and diplomatic district, approximately 20 to 25 kilometres from Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, is expected to provide access to major commercial, diplomatic and cultural destinations in the capital,” he said.
He said Zimbabwe’s tourism performance and Harare’s strategic position as a commercial and diplomatic centre presented an opportunity for the global hospitality group to establish a presence in the market.
“With Zimbabwe welcoming more than 1.7 million international arrivals in 2025 and Harare serving as a key commercial, diplomatic and regional gateway, we see strong opportunity to bring Hilton Garden Inn to a market where demand from business and leisure travellers continues to grow,” he said.
Hilton Garden Inn Harare, Highlands, will offer 140 rooms and suites targeting business and leisure travellers seeking upscale but affordable accommodation.
The property will include an all-day dining restaurant with a terrace, lobby café and bar, gym, swimming pool with a terrace and meeting rooms.
The signing comes as Hilton expands its African footprint, with more than 70 trading hotels and over 100 properties in its development pipeline across the continent, more than half of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
