Zimbabwe, Italy deepen ties in trade and culture push

Zimbabwe and Italy are working to strengthen bilateral cooperation following high-level discussions between Vice President Colonel (Rtd) Dr Kembo Mohadi and Italy’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Giuseppe Giacalone, in Harare.

Ambassador Giacalone paid a courtesy call on the Vice President at the Munhumutapa Offices, where the two leaders explored opportunities to expand collaboration in infrastructure development, trade, and cultural exchange.

Speaking after the meeting, Ambassador Giacalone said the engagement focused on enhancing partnerships across key sectors as both nations look to deepen economic and cultural ties.

He also highlighted Zimbabwe’s active presence at the ongoing Venice Biennale, where five Zimbabwean artists are currently exhibiting their work. The country’s pavilion, running under the theme “Second Nature Manyonga”, delves into neuroplasticity and the human brain’s ability to adapt in times of technological change and crisis.

Ambassador Giacalone further noted that Zimbabwe is set to host the CIMAM Annual Conference from November 20 to 22 this year through the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. The gathering will bring together leading museum and modern art experts from around the world, positioning Zimbabwe as an emerging hub for cultural diplomacy and international artistic engagement.
