Mash Central Throws Weight Behind CAB 3

The ZANU-PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Chapter has intensified mobilisation efforts across the province in support of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, ahead of its anticipated presentation before Parliament.

Over the past week, the ruling party convened inter-district meetings across all eight political districts to brief party structures on developments surrounding the Bill and consolidate support following nationwide public hearings. Party officials said the outreach programme also served to appreciate communities that participated in the consultations and endorsed the proposed constitutional changes.

Addressing supporters during an engagement meeting in Guruve, ZANU-PF Mashonaland Central Deputy Provincial Chairperson, Christopher Magomo, expressed confidence in the Bill’s prospects, saying public hearings reflected overwhelming support.

“We came to Guruve to strengthen the people that CAB 3 is not going to go back. When parliamentarians went around the province, there was overwhelming support for the Bill. We thank all the eight districts of Mashonaland Central. What the people are doing is not for the President alone; it is for everyone,” he said.

Central Committee Member, Paul Dzawanda commended residents for backing the amendment.

“Here in Guruve, we came to thank the leadership and the people of the area for supporting CAB 3. They took their time, exercised their free will and supported the idea that our President Emmerson Mnangagwa should continue in office until 2030. We are seeing development roads, dams and other projects being built,” he said.

Supporters reiterated that the push for the constitutional amendment is rooted in the aspirations of citizens who seek continuity in development.

“We are supporting CAB 3, and we are for development. The President should be allowed to complete the projects he started,” one party member said.

“In the remaining years, we want development in our area so that we grow into an upper-middle-income society,” another added.

With public consultations now concluded, attention shifts to Parliament, where Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 is expected to be formally tabled for debate in the coming weeks.
