ZANU PF supporters celebrate passage of CAB3

ZANU-PF supporters have welcomed the passage of the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill in the National Assembly, describing it as a positive development and a reflection of progress under the Second Republic’s reform and development agenda.

In an interview following the vote, ZANU-PF National Political Commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha said the outcome reflected unity of purpose and commitment to national development priorities.

“This landmark achievement is a testament to our collective commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive and developmental Zimbabwe. We continue to work together in unity, peace and patriotism as we implement the will of the people and build the Zimbabwe we want,” he said.

The Bill was passed after securing 216 votes in favour and 42 against, surpassing the constitutionally required two-thirds majority of 187 in the 280-member National Assembly.

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi said 182 Members of Parliament took part in the debate, with 139 indicating support either outright or with reservations.

ZANU-PF supporters across the country also expressed satisfaction with the passage of the Bill, saying the outcome reflects decisive leadership and consistency in advancing Zimbabwe’s long-term Vision 2030 development agenda.

In separate reactions, supporters said the vote demonstrated confidence in both the legislative process and the broader direction of national governance reforms.

One member of the youth league, Tawanda Maunga from Harare, said the outcome was a clear sign of political stability and policy continuity.

“This vote shows that there is unity of purpose in driving national development. It reflects decisive leadership and a clear commitment to Vision 2030. People want progress, and this is what we are seeing in action,” he said.

Another supporter, Sandra Nyathi from Bulawayo, said the passage of the Bill demonstrated trust in Parliament’s decision-making process and the country’s reform trajectory.

“We are encouraged by what has happened in Parliament. It shows confidence in the system and in the direction the country is taking. These reforms are about strengthening governance and ensuring long-term stability,” she said.

The supporters said the development reinforced public confidence in ongoing governance reforms and the country’s broader economic and institutional transformation agenda.

The Bill now proceeds to the Senate, where it must again secure a two-thirds majority before being transmitted to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for assent.
