Zimbabwean Iman Tadu (25), who is based in the United Kingdom, has been crowned Miss Pride of Africa UK after emerging victorious over contestants from 24 other African countries.
Tadu, a law student, entrepreneur and philanthropist, won the continental pageant, which celebrates African beauty, culture, talent and heritage while promoting unity and empowering young African women.
Following her crowning, Tadu said she would use the platform to promote Zimbabwean culture, tourism and the country’s potential on the international stage.
“As Miss Pride of Africa, I intend to use my title to market Brand Zimbabwe and tell her beautiful Zimbabwean story globally. I believe what made me stand out among other contestants is my Zimbabweaness,” she said.
Tadu said her new role would also see her participate in projects focused on tourism, culture, heritage and human capital development across Africa and the UK.
“Following my crowning, I am expected to participate in tourism, culture, heritage and human capital development projects across Africa and the UK,” she said.
Miss Pride of Africa UK was established to promote African beauty, unity, talent and heritage in the United Kingdom and beyond.
The pageant also provides a platform for young African women to develop leadership skills, build confidence, celebrate their cultural identity and make a positive impact in their communities.
Through the platform, contestants are positioned as ambassadors for positive change, with opportunities to promote African culture and contribute to initiatives across Africa, the UK and the wider international community.
Tadu’s victory adds to the growing list of Zimbabweans making their mark on international platforms and provides her with an opportunity to amplify the country’s cultural heritage and tourism potential.
Furthermore, her reign is expected to create a platform for showcasing Brand Zimbabwe while highlighting the country’s people, heritage, tourism attractions and investment potential to international audiences.
