NRZ Maps Out 2027 Strategy to Improve Freight Services

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) is holding a two-day strategic planning meeting to develop measures to improve freight services, enhance operational efficiency and strengthen service delivery in 2027.

In a statement yesterday, NRZ said the meeting was focused on developing strategies that would improve freight operations and ensure the organisation was better positioned to meet the needs of its customers in the coming year.

“The National Railways of Zimbabwe is holding a two-day strategic planning meeting to draft strategies to enhance freight services, boost operational efficiency and strengthen service delivery in 2027,” the organisation said.

NRZ said the planning process was aimed at establishing clear priorities to guide its operations, with emphasis on improving efficiency and reliability across its rail transport services.

“The roadmap aims to position the NRZ for improved performance and a more efficient, reliable and competitive rail transport system in support of Zimbabwe’s economic growth,” the organisation said.

The meeting comes as rail transport remains an important component of the country’s logistics network, particularly for the movement of bulk goods and other freight that supports productive sectors of the economy.

An efficient rail system can help businesses transport commodities over long distances while providing an alternative to road haulage, particularly for heavy and bulk cargo.
