MultiChoice Group, now part of CANAL+, will introduce five revamped DStv subscription packages on November 5, 2026, including a dedicated sports offering featuring all Premier League and UEFA Champions League matches.
The new line-up, which ranges from US$9 to US$60 a month, is aimed at giving subscribers greater flexibility, clearer package choices and access to entertainment suited to their viewing preferences and budgets.
In a statement, the company said the changes represented a major overhaul of its packages, designed to respond to changing viewing habits while making premium entertainment, sport and African storytelling more accessible.
“The five packages are DStv Starter at US$9 a month, DStv Select at US$20, DStv Sports at US$30, DStv Movies & Series at US$32 and DStv Ultimate at US$60,” it said.
DStv Starter, formerly known as DStv Access, will offer more than 85 channels, including 10 additional channels, with SuperSport KICKOFF and Wethu+ among the new additions.
The package will provide selected football coverage from major competitions, including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, while Wethu+ will offer local and international series.
DStv Select, which replaces DStv Family, will carry more than 100 channels covering family entertainment, news, documentaries, children’s programming, movies, series and sport.
Its channels will include Mzansi Magic, History Channel, Discovery ID and CNN, alongside children’s entertainment channels.
Formerly known as DStv Compact, DStv Movies & Series will focus on films, local and international series, documentaries and factual programming.
The package includes M-Net, Discovery Channel and BBC Earth, as well as selected sports content.
MultiChoice said it had also refreshed its movie offering with channels such as M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars and M-Net Legends, aimed at expanding access to blockbuster films and new releases.
The introduction of DStv Sports marks a new addition to the line-up, with the US$30 package featuring 17 sports channels and coverage of every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match.
The package will also include cricket coverage previously reserved for premium subscribers, selected international club rugby, UFC, WWE and basketball.
Subscribers will additionally receive the entertainment channels available on DStv Select, combining live sport with family programming.
DStv Ultimate, formerly DStv Premium, will remain the company’s flagship package at US$60 a month, combining the content available on DStv Sports and DStv Movies & Series.
It will also provide access to premium sporting events, including Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis tournaments, international rugby and PGA Tour golf.
The changes mark a restructuring of DStv’s subscription options, with the company seeking to cater for different household budgets and viewing interests through packages focused on entry-level entertainment, family programming, sport and premium films and series.
