Zimbabwe’s national trade development and promotion organisation, ZimTrade, has intensified efforts to expand market access for local products through high-level engagements with buyers and distributors in Ghana.
In a statement, issued yesterday, ZimTrade said it is currently holding meetings with strategic partners aimed at unlocking practical export opportunities for Zimbabwean businesses.
“We are in Ghana engaging strategic partners, leading buyers, and distributors to advance market access for Zimbabwean products,” the organisation said.
The trade promotion body said its engagements are focused on identifying practical pathways to ensure Zimbabwean goods secure shelf space in retail outlets and establish sustainable distribution channels.
“Our engagements are focused on practical pathways for distribution, retail placement, and long-term commercial partnerships,” reads the statement.
ZimTrade noted that early discussions with Ghanaian partners have already highlighted strong potential for increased trade flows between the two countries.
“The discussions so far reveal clear opportunities to strengthen trade links and expand the reach of Zimbabwe’s exports across Africa,” the organisation added.
The development comes as Zimbabwe continues to prioritise export-led growth under its economic development agenda, with a particular emphasis on leveraging opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Ghana, which hosts the AfCFTA Secretariat, has emerged as a strategic entry point for Zimbabwean products into west African markets.
ZimTrade is mandated to promote Zimbabwe’s exports and assist local companies in accessing regional and international markets.
