Construction of Msudu Clinic in Ward 14, Insiza North constituency, is nearing completion in a development expected to significantly improve access to health services for local communities.
The project, being undertaken by the Second Republic through Insiza North legislator Delani Moyo, is set to ease longstanding challenges faced by villagers who have been travelling long distances to access medical care.
Speaking in an interview, MP Moyo said residents in Ward 14 and surrounding areas have endured years of travelling long distances to access basic healthcare, and the new facility will bring much-needed relief.
“For years, villagers have relied on distant health centres, a situation that has often delayed treatment, particularly for expectant mothers, the elderly and patients with chronic conditions.”
MP Moyo said the clinic forms part of Government efforts to decentralise health services and ensure equitable access in rural communities.
“This project reflects our commitment to improving the welfare of our people by bringing essential services closer to them. We are encouraged by the progress made so far and the support from the community,” he said.
Community members have been actively involved in the construction process, contributing labour and locally available materials in line with Government’s thrust on community participation in development initiatives.
Villagers also welcomed the development, saying it would ease access to healthcare services.
“We are very happy about this clinic because we have been walking long distances to the nearest health centre. This will make life easier, especially for pregnant women and the elderly,” said Nkosilathi Ndlovu, a Ward 14 resident.
Another villager, Thandeka Moyo, said the facility would improve health outcomes in the area.
“Access to healthcare has been a major challenge here. With this clinic almost complete, we are hopeful that our community will now receive timely treatment,” she said.
Once completed, Msudu Clinic is expected to provide primary healthcare services, including outpatient care, maternal and child health services, immunisation programmes and health education.
The completion of the clinic is set to mark a major milestone in strengthening healthcare delivery in Insiza North, in line with the Second Republic’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind.
